Florida coach Jim McElwain has heartfelt message for young cancer patient
Everyone remembers Tim Tebow’s inspiration speech after Florida’s loss to Ole Miss during the 2008 season. Well, the Gators may have a different reason for inspiration on Saturday.
Twitter user, @hey_its_kathryn, tweeted a picture to Florida coach Jim McElwain on Tuesday of a boy holding a sign that read, “Dear Gators, I’m beating cancer. Please beat Ole Miss.”
McElwain responded to the tweet saying, “Keep fighting with everything you’ve got, buddy…We will keep fighting with everything we’ve got to win for you.”
According to one of @hey_its_kathryn’s previous tweets that included a link to a Go Fund Me Page, the little boy’s name is Jay Ryon and he is currently in a battle with leukemia.
McElwain and the Gators will take on Ole Miss this Saturday with Ryon on their minds.
