GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Kadarius Toney committed to Florida last month, but other schools haven’t stopped coming after him.
Toney, rated as a four-star athlete by ESPN and Scout, received an offer from Alabama two weeks after his decision. Auburn is also recruiting the Prichard, Ala., product, and he visited the school in April.
Could the Tide or Tigers threaten Toney’s pledge?
“No,” he bluntly told SEC Country. “There’s really nothing they could do. I made up my mind already.”
Toney said he received “confirmation” that UF is the right place for him on his first-ever trip to Gainesville this weekend.
“I had a great visit,” Toney said. “It was what I expected it would be. It was a long drive, but it was worth it. My favorite part was seeing The Swamp.”
The 6-foot, 177-pounder arrived in town on Friday night and competed in Florida’s mini camp Saturday. His primary recruiter is running backs coach Tim Skipper, who also beat out the Tide last year for the state of Alabama’s No. 1 running back, Lamical Perine.
“It was fun spending quality time with him, building our relationship even more,” Toney said of Skipper. “I just like learning from him. He was telling me to stay focused and keep grinding.”
