His status was undecided during the week after suffering a head injury late against Tennessee last weekend. Florida coach Jim McElwain said Wednesday afternoon that Dawson was in the concussion protocol.
“He’s been out there [at practice],” McElwain said. “Had his helmet on, gone through individual drills, but that’s because of how far along he is in his testing. We’ll find out from there moving forward.”
On Monday, McElwain said Dawson was “highly questionable.”
Dawson is 1 of 2 healthy experienced upperclassmen in the Gators’ secondary along with redshirt senior Nick Washington. Through two games, Dawson has 9 tackles, 2 interceptions (including a pick-six against Michigan) and 2 pass breakups.
