Members of the Florida men’s golf team will want to pay extra attention to their coach this coming season, as he has gone out and won a tournament as a player.
Gators coach J.C. Deacon is the 2017 Florida Open champion, firing a final-round 68 to finish 13-under par to win the annual event by one stroke.

Deacon was hired as the Florida head coach in 2014 after spending four years as an assistant coach at UNLV, where he was a member of the Rebels golf team from 2001-05.
After college, he spent two years on the Gateway Tour and four years on the Canadian Tour before entering coaching full time.
For the victory, Deacon earned $15,000.
