HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Five-star Marlon Davidson maintains that he is “75 percent” committed to Auburn, but it was what he told another elite prospect that raised eyebrows.
Davidson, the nation’s No. 2 defensive end, was in the midst of an interview with SEC Country when another 5-star, linebacker Ben Davis, took over the microphone. Davidson and Davis (undecided) are both from Alabama, and have become friends throughout the recruiting circuit.
Back to Marlon Davidson: He told unofficial SEC Country reporter Ben Davis that three SEC schools have been making a strong push for his services.
“It’ll be Alabama, UGA and Florida,” Davis said in the candid interview.
Florida was surprising to hear because the Gators offered Davidson in late October. He has not visited Florida yet.
“So, Coach (Jim) McElwain is sneaking in on you?” Davis asked on behalf of SEC Country.
“Yes sir, he is,” Davidson said.
In the video below, you can find out the answers to the following questions:
1) Now that Kirby Smart is UGA’s coach, where do things stand with the Bulldogs?
2) Who has taken over the role of Davidson’s primary recruiter at Alabama?
