Florida kicker Eddy Pineiro is facing two misdemeanor charges after allegedly doing damage to two scooters.
According to a sworn complaint to the University of Florida Police Department, Pineiro did $800 worth of damage to the scooters. He was not arrested.
Florida issued a statement on the charges Thursday, saying: “We have been aware and it has been handled.”
When asked about Pineiro on Wednesday, Florida head coach Jim McElwain said that there had been no change in his status for this week’s game against LSU. It is unknown if he knew of the charges against Pineiro at the time. The charges were filed Wednesday.
“You know, I’m planning on (him playing),” McElwain said, according to SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi. “Did he do something?”
One reporter said there had been rumors about Pineiro on Florida message boards.
“Geez Louise. You guys spend too much time on that crap,” McElwain said. “I’m telling you. He kicked the heck out of it today. Made it rain a couple of times. Did good.”
Pineiro is charged with a first degree misdemeanor of criminal mischief for property damage between $200 and $1,000, and a second degree misdemeanor of criminal mischief for property damage less than $200.
