It was a long year for the Florida Gators in the kicking game, and the situation didn’t get better on the first day of 2016.
Gators kicker Austin Hardin will miss the Citrus Bowl on Friday because of an ankle injury he sustained during a walk-through practice on Thursday, the team announced.

Hardin has struggled all season, connecting on only 5-of-14 field goals. He’s almost missed three extra points. Florida’s other kicker, freshman Jorge Powell, was lost for the remainder of the season with an injury in October.
Senior walk-on Neil MacInnes earned a spot on the team after an open tryout with more than 200 participants after Powell’s injury. He hasn’t attempted a field goal this season, but that could change in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan. MacInnes has made 1-of-2 extra points in 2015.
