GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After two straight days of defections from their 2016 class, the Florida Gators received some positive recruiting news Friday.
Farmington (Mich.) linebacker David Reese announced his pledge to UF in a commitment video with Bleacher Report. The Gators now have 25 commits.
Reese, Florida’s 12th early enrollee, cited his relationship with linebackers coach Randy Shannon as a key factor in his decision.
“He’s a great guy,” Reese said in the video, “and he coached many guys before me at Miami. He’s been a great mentor.”
The 6-foot-1, 235-pound Reese de-committed from Michigan on Dec. 9 following an in-home visit with Shannon. Florida coach Jim McElwain returned to Reese’s home with Shannon four days later to seal the deal.
