GAINESVILLE, Fla. — It did not take Florida long to find another running back in the Class of 2017.
Malik Davis, a 3-star recruit from Tampa, Fla., committed to the Gators on Wednesday. He chose them over Miami and North Carolina after receiving an offer from UF last Friday.

Adarius Lemons backed off his pledge to Florida late Tuesday night. The 4-star running back from Clearwater, Fla., was suspended from his high school football team for the remainder of this season and also has work to do academically.
But the Gators rebounded nicely with Davis, a 5-foot-10, 188-pound prospect who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds and had a 4.03 shuttle at Friday Night Lights. Davis has led Jesuit High School to a 7-0 record in 2016 and is the all-time leading rusher in Hillsborough County.
UF is back up to 16 members in its 2017 class. Below are mid-season senior highlights and a video feature on Davis.
