Smith officially visited UF last weekend and told SEC Country he enjoyed spending time with head coach Jim McElwain and defensive coordinator Randy Shannon.
“Florida is definitely up there for me,” Smith said. “I’ve developed a close relationship with Coach Mac, Coach Shannon and the other coaches on the staff at Florida.”
The Gators now have 15 commitments in the Class of 2017, including linebackers James Houston, Ventrell Miller and Smith.
