Jefferson received an offer from Florida on Nov. 30 and plans to officially visit UF despite the departure of defensive line coach Chris Rumph. The 6-foot-6, 330-pound lineman is ranked the nation’s No. 7 defensive tackle and No. 19 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite JUCO rankings.
Gators defensive coordinator Todd Grantham has been in contact with Jefferson and visited him this month. With junior DT Taven Bryan leaving for the NFL, Florida has a void to fill and Jefferson would push for a starting job. He visited Arkansas last month and will take trips to Louisville and Ole Miss in January.
The Gators don’t have any defensive tackle commits at this time, but they signed three players at the position last year and North Carolina transfer Marlon Dunlap will be eligible to play next season.
