GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida linebacker Jarrad Davis has progressed in practice this week ahead of the Georgia game Saturday.
UF coach Jim McElwain said Davis will be a game-time decision after his play in practice Wednesday.
“Jarrad Davis came back, took reps today,” McElwain said. “Obviously, guys, that will be one of those that it’s got to be right with him, got to be right with the doctors. I will say this, it was really uplifting to the team to have him out there today
“Seeing him go through some things in some of the segments of practice, especially in the third-down stuff we did in the red area. … I thought he moved pretty well.”
During warmups, fellow linebacker Alex Anzalone proclaimed, “JD’s back baby! JD’s back!”

McElwain senses that Davis is toughing it out and wants to play badly against Georgia, his home-state school.
“This is his last opportunity to play in this game,” McElwain said. “That guy is a real big part of our team. He’ll do anything he can to help us. It’s great to see that want.
“Sometimes guys get nicked up and it’s kinda like, ‘Hey, whoa, I wanna save myself.’ I don’t see that in this guy. He wants to go play.”
McElwain indicated that defensive tackle Joey Ivie (thumb) and defensive end Jordan Sherit (knee) should be back Saturday. Defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. (hand) and tight end DeAndre Goolsby (finger) are questionable for the game, but both have practiced this week.
