Florida doesn’t know who its starting quarterback will be this season, but the Gators can be sure about some protection up front for their next starter behind center.
Buford, Ga., offensive lineman Riley Simonds committed to Florida on Wednesday night via Twitter. He thanked his coaches in a written statement and posted photos from previous visits to The Swamp.

Simonds is ranked as the No. 49 recruit in Georgia and No. 455 nationally in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports composite.
He joins Wardrick Wilson and Ethan White as the third offensive lineman in the Gators’ 2019 class. Simonds took his official visit to Florida on June 1 and followed it up with visits to Mizzou and Virginia Tech before settling on the Gators.
Simonds also had offers from Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State and Kentucky, among others.
