Almost exactly two years after Will Muschamp was let go from the head coaching position at Florida, he returned to Gainesville as the head coach at South Carolina on Saturday.
Though his Gamecocks lost to the Gators, it’s clear the moment wasn’t lost on his former players, some of which he recruited.
After McElwain and Muschamp met at midfield, a stream of about 30 players came through to give Boom a hug. Nice scene.

Muschamp never experienced much success while leading the Florida program. He finished his time there with a 28-21 record and a 17-15 record in SEC play. 2012 was his best season there, leading the Gators to the SEC title game and an appearance in the Sugar Bowl. Yet, his only bowl win there came in his first season when he won the Gator Bowl.
A line of Florida players still on the field waiting to talk to/hug Muschamp. This has been going on for about 5 minutes now.

The loss Saturday likely stung a little extra for the former coach, as it denied the Gamecocks a chance to become bowl eligible. He was the defensive coordinator at Auburn in 2015 before starting his time in Columbia.
Florida players almost lining up to embrace Will Muschamp.
