Welcome to Chomp Chat, SEC Country’s daily Florida podcast with reporter Zach Abolverdi and Gators broadcaster Jeff Cardozo.
After 14 grueling spring practices, the Orange & Blue Game was about fun for the Florida football team and its fans.
More than 53,000 showed up in The Swamp last Saturday to see the debut of first-year coach Dan Mullen. The Gators racked up 65 points and 687 total yards on offense, with a little help from the referees and a couple former players.
In the latest edition of Chomp Chat, we recap the game and all of spring ball with Florida beat writer Ryan Young of SEC Country.
Here are the topics on today’s show:
- Young shares his perspective on the fan turnout and what the atmosphere was like at Gator Walk.
- We discuss criticism Mullen has received for the gimmick plays and celebratory nature of the Orange & Blue Game.
- Young gives his reflections and takeaways from Florida’s first spring under Mullen, including the quarterback competition between Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask.
- We break down the biggest question marks for the Gators coming out of spring and what they need to work on this offseason.
