Welcome to Chomp Chat, SEC Country’s daily Florida podcast with reporter Zach Abolverdi and Gators broadcaster Jeff Cardozo.
The status of Florida wide receiver transfers Trevon Grimes and Van Jefferson is still to be determined by the NCAA, but both cases look promising.
With former Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson being ruled eligible at Michigan, the same verdict should come for Jefferson and the other four players who left the Rebels football program.
Grimes transferred from Ohio State and has applied for a hardship waiver from the NCAA because of a health issue with his mother in South Florida.
In the latest edition of Chomp Chat, we discuss the anticipated availability of both players this season and how it will impact the Gators’ wide receiver position.
Here are the topics on the show Friday:
- We break down Florida’s numbers and personnel at wide receiver in 2018 and see how it stacks up against the players in previous seasons.
- The Gators haven’t had this much depth and talent at the position since 2009, which was the final year of Billy Gonzales’ first stint as wide receivers coach. He’s now back at Florida and his return will be a big help at the position.
- We play an interview with top-50 prospect and 4-star defensive end Nathan Pickering (Seminary, Miss.), who discusses his recruitment and interest in the Gators.
