College football smack talk in the heat of July? Sign us up.
We don’t know exactly what has Florida RB Mark Thompson feeling disrespected these days. Perhaps it was the SEC media picking the Gators to finish behind hated Georgia despite the fact Florida has won the SEC East in two consecutive seasons under Jim McElwain?
We can’t be sure. We only know what he plans to do to remedy the situation.
On Monday, the former JUCO transfer tweeted a message out that made things very clear on where he stands with all the preseason chatter:
With Teeze Tabor taking his talents to the NFL, we do need a new Gators player to let us know what they are thinking on Twitter reguarly. Perhaps Thompson, who played in all 12 games for the Gators in 2016 and started four, is ready to step into that role this season.
Florida opens the 2017 football season in Arlington, Texas with a neutral-site meeting with Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines. That’s the same program that handed Florida a 41-7 loss in the Citrus Bowl during McElwain’s first season.
