Florida’s successful barbecue event over the weekend likely will lead to some commitments in the coming weeks and months.

First-year coach Dan Mullen and his staff hosted more than 10 top targets Saturday at the inaugural Great Gator Grill-Out. As SEC Country highlighted last Friday, the purpose of the event was to establish relationships between the new coaches and recruits — not land commits.

That will happen when those said recruits are ready to make their announcements. Here’s a rundown of their decision timelines:

  • 5-star cornerback Chris Steele (Bellflower, Calif.) — July 7 or Jan. 5 at the Adidas All-American Bowl
  • 4-star defensive end Nathan Pickering (Seminary, Miss.) — February
  • 4-star defensive end Khris Bogle (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) — January or February
  • 4-star wide receiver Dannis Jackson (Sumrall, Miss.) — Jan. 4 at the Under Armour All-America Game
  • 4-star guard William Putnam (Tampa, Fla.) — Possibly end of summer
  • 4-star guard Dontae Lucas (Bradenton, Fla.) — Florida State commit
  • 4-star tight end Jahleel Billingsley (Chicago) — Possibly end of summer
  • 4-star defensive end Lloyd Summerall (Auburndale, Fla.) — After senior season
  • 4-star defensive back Jaden Davis (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) — July 18
  • 3-star cornerback DJ Turner II (Suwanee, Ga.) — June 25
  • 3-star guard Hunter Rayburn (Pensacola, Fla.) — End of summer
  • 3-star tackle Adrian Medley (Pensacola, Fla.) — End of summer

Billingsley, the nation’s No. 10-ranked tight end, named the Gators his leader and said he may commit before his senior season starts. Offensive linemen Putnam, Medley and Rayburn and defensive backs Davis, Steele and Turner all plan to decide by the end of the summer as well.

In addition to those seven recruits, Florida is scheduled to host 3-star guard Riley Simonds (Buford, Ga.) for an official visit on June 1. He will choose between the Gators and Virginia Tech this summer.

Another Peach State lineman, 4-star guard Keiondre Jones (Hogansville, Ga.), plans to commit in August and Florida appears to be in great shape for his services.
