The opening ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympics begin Friday, and the University of Florida will be well represented.
The Florida Gators will have 30 former and current athletes competing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Most notably, the Gators are represented by U.S. olympic gold medal swimmer Ryan Lochte. Lochte swam at Florida from 2004 to 2007.
The Gators have olympians representing 15 countries: Puerto Rico, Spain, Italy, Germany, Australia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Iceland, New Zealand, Bosnia, Colombia, Great Britain, South Africa, Poland, Jamaica and Croatia.
