A matchup between the Auburn and Florida softball teams turned ugly after the series finale ended Monday night.
After the Tigers topped the Gators in a close 1-0 contest, the two teams crossed the field for the typical post-game high fives. When Florida coach Tim Walton approached Auburn shortstop Haley Fagan, she didn’t have her arm up. Walton instead tapped her on the shoulder, which prompted a push from Fagan.
Tuesday morning, Walton issued an apology to Fagan, which was published on Florida softball’s Twitter account.

Walton and Fagan have a bit of a history. Fagan’s two older sisters both played for Walton at Florida and were suspended before a regional tournament game in 2012, one that Florida went on to lose. Both girls transferred from the team after.
The loss was just Florida’s second of the season. They move on to play Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday.
