Well, this is different.
Florida State defeated Florida 27-2 in their annual rivalry game last season, marking the fifth time the Seminoles have beaten the Gators in six tries. The Seminoles also beat the other two teams in the state of Florida on their schedule in Miami and USF.
Apparently, according to Florida State, this made it state champions.

This is sort of bizarre, especially when you consider that Florida State didn’t even play the other Division I teams in the state, including UCF, FAU and FIU.
Florida fans could look at this multiple ways. You could either be disrespected by the gesture, honored that Florida State considers the Gators one of the four teams that competes for the unofficial “state title” of Florida or just laugh it off.
Whatever you decide, the Gators can make sure this does not happen again when they face Florida State in the 2016 regular-season finale on Nov. 26. That’s if Miami doesn’t handle the job first.
