No matter how Monday’s Game 1 of the College World Series between the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers turns out, the right-handed starter did his job.
Singer struck out 12 batters in seven-plus innings to set a CWS record for the most strikeouts in a College World Series final game and the most strikeouts for a Florida pitcher in a CWS game.

Singer allowed 2 runs and 8 hits and walked 2 batters for the Gators, throwing 112 pitches before being lifted after a leadoff eighth-inning double by Greg Deichmann.
