Even though the play ended Florida’s undefeated record, Gators coach Jim McElwain still appreciated LSU’s game-winning fake field goal on Saturday night.
“That was pretty awesome,” McElwain said, according to The Advocate’s Scott Rabalais.
LSU coach Les Miles proved why he’s nicknamed “The Mad Hatter” in the fourth quarter when he pulled out one of his infamous trick plays. In a tied game late with 10:40 to play, LSU lined up for a 33-yard field. But instead of going for the three-point lead, holder Brad Kragthorpe fielded the snap and flipped it to kicker Trent Dominque. The Tigers kicker scrambled for a 16-yard touchdown to give LSU the game-winning score.

It was a play that may haunt Florida fans for weeks to come, but McElwain took a level-headed approach following the defeat.
