Florida’s tight ends have impressed two games into the season
After a disappointing 31-24 win over East Carolina on Saturday, the Gators will now have to prepare for the start of conference play. Florida will travel to take on Kentucky next week.
Before we get to that game, one position group continued to impress for the Gators. Florida’s tight ends had another big night Saturday. After tight ends DeAndre Goolsby, C’yontai Lewis and Jake McGee combined to catch seven passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns last week, the trio combined for four catches for 100 yards and a touchdown against East Carolina.
The Gators’ tight ends now have three touchdowns this season, matching last season’s total. Even more surprising, Goolsby and Lewis have accounted for the three touchdowns. Starter Jake McGee was expected to lead the group, but it has been the backups who have opened eyes so far.
