Former Florida linebacker Jeremi Powell will play his final season of eligibility at Toledo as a graduate transfer, the university announced on Friday. He is joined by former Miami (Fla.) defensive tackle Earl Moore, who also joins the Rockets as a graduate transfer.
“We look forward to both of these young men joining the Rocket family,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said in a release. “They will add experience and depth to our defense next fall.”
Powell left the Gators after the 2015 SEC Championship with initial reports indicating he was retiring from football. Instead he will be added to a team that finished 10-2 in 2015 and earned a victory over Temple in the Boca Raton Bowl.
In 24 games at Florida, Powell tallied 21 tackles and played mostly as a reserve and special teams player.
