Former Florida wide receiver Chris Thompson has signed with the Houston Texans.
On Tuesday, the Texans made the announcement that they signed Thompson as a college free agent. The 6-foot, 170-pound athlete didn’t produce much offensively for the Gators, totaling no more than five catches in a season. He had a career-high five receptions for 48 yards last year. He had two catches in both the 2014 and 2015 seasons, totaling just 30 yards in that span.
Thompson was a contributor on special teams in 2016, totaling 13 kick returns for 283 yards. He also served as a reserve defensive back in the Outback Bowl against Iowa.
Thompson could get a look at a variety of roles with the Texans to add depth. His versatility could help him as he tries to latch on with Houston.
