COCOA, Fla. – Bruce Judson has been recruited by the last three head coaches for the Florida Gators.
The four-star athlete from Cocoa, Fla., used to be committed to Urban Meyer and Ohio State, and he’s currently being pursued by UF coach Jim McElwain and his predecessor, Will Muschamp, now the head coach at South Carolina.
Judson told SEC Country he likes McElwain more than Meyer and Muschamp.
“There’s no debate. It’s coach McElwain,” Judson said. “No disrespect to coach Meyer or coach Muschamp, but they run their program a little differently. I like the way coach Mac does it.
“Even though coach Mac might not look too young, he has that kind of relationship where you can clown and joke around with him. But there’s a time to get serious and there’s a time to play. He balances both.”
Judson revealed the real reason he de-committed from the Buckeyes, explaining that Meyer asked who he was during his visit to OSU last summer. Judson had a much different interaction with McElwain on his last trip to Florida for the Orange & Blue Debut.
“After the spring game, he was walking off the field and saw me standing on the sideline,” Judson said. “The cameras were coming over to him and he told them to wait. He came over and said he wants me to know that they need me at Florida.”
Judson visited Florida and Auburn when Muschamp coached there and has spoken to him since he took the job at South Carolina.
“I talk on the phone with (Muschamp) and he seems like a nice guy, but he’s not like coach Mac,” Judson said. “Coach Mac brings different energy when he talks to you. But he also doesn’t tell you what you want to hear. He tells it like it is.
“Other coaches don’t really come at you that way, but that’s how he is. When my mom and dad and my family like you, then that’s all I need to hear.”
