We’ve seen a number of 2017 recruits in recent weeks release target lists of anywhere between 6-12 schools. So four-star defensive end Zachary Carter is a little unique in releasing a list of just four universities on Friday.
Carter, from Hillsborough High School (Tampa, Fla.) posted on Twitter that two SEC schools — Florida and Tennessee — are in the running for his services. He’s also considering South Florida and Clemson.

Carter is ranked as the No. 4 strong-side defensive end prospect in the Class of 2017 and the No. 20 prospect overall in the state of Florida. Carter told SEC Country earlier this month that Florida would be hard to beat.
Carter said in that interview that he is closest to the coaches at Clemson and UF, but he revealed his strongest relationship is with Gators defensive line coach Chris Rumph.
“The first time I met him I could tell he was a good guy,” Carter said of Rumph. “On all my trips there I’ve really liked his personality not just as a coach but as a person.
“I got to see him in action and I like his coaching style. He’s comfortable with me, too. We talk like we’re friends instead of coach and player. I think that’s a big part of it.”
