BRADENTON, Fla. — Sporting Florida State gloves at the IMG 7-on-7 tournament Saturday, Cyrus Fagan seemed solid in his commitment to the Seminoles.
But the 4-star safety from Daytona Beach (Fla.) has at least two other schools he wants to visit this fall.
Florida assistant Kerry Dixon II, Fagan’s primary recruiter for the Gators, has secured one of those trips.
“Coach Dixon talks to me all the time,” Fagan said. “He texted me the other day. He just tells me they love my game and they’re ready for me. I’d say Florida still has a chance with me. I’m going to visit them during the season.”
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect also plans to check out Southern Cal, a program that has previously pulled players from his high school (Mainland).
“I want to see the West Coast,” Fagan said. “I just want to see how their college is different from ones down here. They’re recruiting me hard and they tell me I have a chance to come in and start.”
The Under Armour All-American hopes to take all five of his official visits. FSU will receive one of them, and Georgia and Tennessee are in the mix for the final two trips.
“I’m not just going for fun,” Fagan said. “I’m really going to look at other schools when I visit them. But I’m really strong with Florida State. How they’re recruiting me is perfect.”
Fagan is ranked the No. 68 overall prospect and No. 6 safety nationally in the 247Sports Composite.
