Welcome to the latest installment of our “Future Gators” series, which looks at the top performers each week from Florida’s commitment list.
Here are the standouts from Week 9:
Matt Corral, 4-star QB, Long Beach Poly (Long Beach Poly, Calif.)
Stat line: Corral threw for 320 yards and 5 touchdowns on 10-of-13 passing in a 81-0 win over Jordan.
Next game: Friday vs. Lakewood (Lakewood, Calif.)
Notes: Corral only played in the first half, but put on a show for Florida offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier. He was in attendance Friday and it was his first time seeing Corral play in a game. “It was really exciting … and I’m happy that he came out,” Corral told SEC Country afterward.
Dameon Pierce, 4-star RB, Bainbridge Bainbridge (Ga.)
Stat line: 226 yards and 4 touchdowns on 15 carries in a 63-14 win over Thomas County Central (Thomasville, Ga.).
Next game: Friday vs. Harris County (Hamilton, Ga.)
Quotable: “His longest was a 65-yarder down the far sideline, with Yellow Jacket defenders scrambling to catch up as he blasted toward the end zone. … Pierce added two more touchdowns before the quarter ended to make it 35-0 going into the second.” — Powell Cobb of the Post Searchlight
Iverson Clement, 4-star RB, Rancocas Valley (Mount Holly, N.J.)
Stat line: 120 total yards and 3 touchdowns on 11 touches in a 42-7 win over Notre Dame (Lawrenceville, N.J.)
Next game: Friday at Camden (Camden, N.J.)
Notes: Clement scored from a yard out and found the end zone from 12 and 17 yards, all in the first half. He also caught a 35-pass in the game and finished with 90 yards rushing on 10 carries.
