Do you want to know how we know it is Florida-Tennessee game week?
Shots are flying in all different directions between the Vols and Gators faithful. First, it was Tennessee fans on the offensive with old Twitter pictures of Gators quarterback Austin Appleby, followed by a since-deleted GoFundMe page set up to pay for Appleby’s funeral following the Saturday meeting at Neyland Stadium.
Next, it was long-time Gainesville writer Pat Dooley taking a swipe at the Vols during an appearance on the Paul Finebaum Show on Monday.
Dooley, who writes for the Gainesville Sun, likened Tennessee to the Kardashian family because they “look good and haven’t done anything.”

Following that sick burn, Dooley faced quite a bit of backlash on social media.
Perhaps the most interesting comment came from former Vols QB Erik Ainge, who seemingly mocked the writer’s lack of fame:
@pat_dooley I call Pat Dooley the…who are you?

Interestingly enough, Ainge is the man who led the Vols on a fourth-quarter comeback in 2004 to defeat the Gators 30-28. Tennessee has lost 11 consecutive meetings with Florida since.
