Today is a big day in the recruiting world.
Sept. 1 is the first day college coaches can contact 2017 recruits and the Gators were ready when the clock struck midnight.

Florida coach Jim McElwain sent out a tweet at 12:30 a.m. that read, “Welcome to the Swamp, Class of 2017.” A photo of a Gators player in uniform wearing No. 17 was attached to the message.
Even though they hadn’t been able to officially contact 2017 recruits before Tuesday, Florida has already built a strong 2017 recruiting class. The Gators’ 2017 class is ranked as the seventh-best in the country, according to 247Sports.
Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas quarterback Jake Allen and Tampa Bay Tech wide receiver Daquon Green are rated as the best prospects in the group. Both are listed as four-star recruits.
