GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s march across the state continued Thursday with recruiting evaluations in the Panhandle and South Florida.
A day after visiting the state’s No. 1 strongside defensive end, Zachary Carter, defensive coordinator Geoff Collins made his way to Sebastian to see Jarez Parks, who is rated a four-star recruit and ranked the nation’s No. 4 weakside defensive end by 247 Sports.
Offensive line coach Mike Summers was in the Panhandle to check out three Pensacola prospects: Alabama offensive tackle commit Alex Leatherwood, Duke wide receiver commit Damond Johnson and 2018 wide receiver Jacob Copeland.
Running backs coach Tim Skipper visited Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes and Miami Southridge, home to Florida tight end commit Kemore Gamble, Miami running back commit Bentavious Thompson, cornerback Shawn Davis, wide receiver Rodney Scott, a Miami commit, and linebacker Nadarius Fagan.
Wide receivers coach Kerry Dixon II also stopped by Southridge as well as Killian, Homestead and South Dade. Secondary coach Torrian Gray evaluated Hialeah cornerback Latavious Brini, linebacker De’Andre Wilder from Miami Carol City and his teammate, defensive back Naytron Culpepper.
Offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier went to West Palm Beach to visit Dwyer, Oxbridge Academy (cornerback Traivon Leonard), Palm Beach Gardens (safety Amari Carter) and Suncoast (linebacker K’Jakyre Daley).
Nussmeier then visited Lake Worth pass rusher Jonathan Garvin with defensive line coach Chris Rumph, who also hit up Glades Central, Pahokee and other schools in Palm Beach County.
Linebackers coach Randy Shannon saw more than half a dozen Miami recruits: Miami offensive tackle commit Navaughn Donaldson (Central), Syracuse wide receiver commit Sharod Johnson (Booker T.), wide receiver Carmoni Green (Central), 2018 Auburn defensive end commit Robert Hicks (Booker T.), 2018 Miami cornerback commit Thomas Burns (Northwestern), 2018 linebacker Billy Joseph (Northwestern), 2018 cornerback Trenell Troutman (Northwestern) and 2019 FSU running back commit James Cook (Central).
Tights end coach Greg Nord dropped in on five high schools in his recruiting areas: Fort White, Columbia, Lafayette, Taylor County and Wakulla.
