When The Opening holds it fastest man competition this summer at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., put your money on Anthony Schwartz.
The 3-star wide receiver and two-sport athlete from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., won the 100-meter final Friday at the Florida Relays with a time of 10.15 records, which set a new event record.
The previous mark was held by former Florida running back and sprinter Jeff Demps (10.17, 2008). Schwartz ran the fastest 100m time ever recorded in March and the sixth best all-time in high school.
His previous personal record was 10.26 seconds. Schwartz ran 10.32 in the prelims Thursday, .02 seconds shy of this year’s best 100m time nationally (Bryand Rincher, 10.30). Schwartz smoked that mark on Friday.
The 6-foot, 172-pound prospect, who plans to play football and run track in college, won the fastest man competition in last month’s Miami regional for The Opening. Schwartz ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds.
His goal is to get in the 4.2-range this summer at The Opening, an annual combine for the nation’s top recruits. Judging by his race Friday, don’t bet against it.

Schwartz names top 10
In between his races Thursday and Friday, Schwartz announced his top 10 schools on Twitter.
Florida made the cut along with Auburn, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon and Southern Cal.
Despite a large group of standouts, Florida and Miami are considered the favorites for Schwartz. He called those two schools his co-leaders in February.
“UF is at the top with Miami,” Schwartz said at the time. “Mainly their facilities and they’ll both allow me to play football and run track. Florida has a really good track team, I do know that.”
Schwartz visited Miami last weekend and is scheduled to attend Florida’s spring game on April 7 with his mother. He also plans to visit Auburn and FSU in the near future.
