Florida prepares to face Will Muschamp
The Florida Gators face their former coach in Will Muschamp and the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday in a game that could help the Gators end their four-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the matchup has also brought forth the familiar storyline of comparing Muschamp with his successor, Jim McElwain, who has already been ousted after just two-and-a-half seasons and followed an eerily similar path as Muschamp.

Off to Senior Bowl
Florida punter Johnny Townsend and cornerback Duke Dawson on Thursday accepted invitations to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Jan. 27.
Hoops signs 2 blue chips
Florida men’s basketball announced on Thursday that it received National Letters of Intent from a pair of 4-star recruits in guards Andrew Nembhard and Noah Locke for the 2018-19 season.
Soccer hosts NCAA
The No. 3 regional seed Gators host South Alabama for the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Friday. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
Women’s hoops begins season Saturday
The Cameron Newbauer era in Gainesville officially begins on Saturday when the Florida women’s basketball team opens its 2017-18 season against Georgia State. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. from Exactech Arena.
Volleyball hosts 2 this weekend
The fourth-ranked Gators volleyball team hosts a pair of SEC matches this weekend. First, Florida plays Arkansas on Friday, with first serve set for 7 p.m. The Gators will turn around on Sunday to play Missouri at 1 p.m. The game against Missouri will also serve as senior day for the Gators.
