Jameis Winston teases Florida when discussing Jaguars blocking miscue
Former Florida State and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston couldn’t help himself when he took a jab at his alma mater’s rival, Florida, on Wednesday.
Winston discussed Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bernard Pierce’s blocking gaffe during last Sunday’s game in which he accidentally blocked his own teammate on a Buccaneers punt return. The former Florida State Seminole laughed about the play and compared it to a similar play committed by the Gators a couple of years ago. Winston even suspected that something fishy is going on in northern Florida.
“I don’t want to throw no shots, but I am cause they Gators, but the Gators were blocking each other against Georgia Southern two years ago,” Winston said to the media. “And Jacksonville is close to Gainesville so it’s something going on out there.”
The play Winston joked about was the epitome of a game many Gators fans likely want to forget. Florida lost to Georgia Southern, an FCS school, 26-20 in what turned out to be the beginning of a miserable 4-8 season in 2013.
