HOOVER, Ala. — Jim McElwain’s whole offseason has been ruined by a naked man on a shark. If not ruined, at least soured.
During his 2017 SEC Media Days appearance on Tuesday, McElwain again was faced with questions about the objectionable photo.
SEC Country’s Kyle Tucker asked him about what it was like to have to wake up in the morning to answer questions about whether he was nude on a shark. At first, it appeared as though he would have some fun with his response, but his tone quickly turned serious.
“I love the humor in it,” McElwain started before turning serious. “And yet, you know what, it not only attacked the university but it attacked my family. When you know it is not you. You know, I bust chops with the best of them, and yet when it got personal…”
He trailed off, and you could see the frustration on his face before he asked for someone to ask another question.

McElwain has long denied that he was the person on the shark, and that seems to be a very widely accepted conclusion. However, it still seems to be a sore spot for the Florida coach.
In case you may have forgotten (how could you forget?) or have been living under a rock, here’s a look back at photo of the McElwain lookalike that got this whole controversy started back in May.
