JUCO transfer CB Joseph Putu has been academically cleared to enroll at Florida.
Putu, who signed with the Gators in January after two years at North Dakota State College of Science, told SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi on Wednesday that he had qualified academically to play for the Gators.
The 3-star JUCO prospect was once a war refugee. He spent his early years in a refugee camp in Ghana after his family was displaced by the civil war in Liberia. He came to the U.S. when he was 7.
Putu was once committed to Arkansas but signed with Florida in February despite never visiting campus.
He had 55 tackles and 10 interceptions in 2015.
