The nation’s No. 1 overall recruit is scheduled to visit Florida this weekend.
Gators coach Dan Mullen and his staff will host Kayvon Thibodeaux, a 5-star defensive end from Oaks Christian High School (Thousand Oaks, Calif.). Thibodeaux told SEC Country last week he was looking into an unofficial visit this spring, and now that trip is set.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound prospect said he wants to check out the Gators because he has been impressed with Mullen and his staff. He plans to return to Florida this fall for an official visit.
“I know there’s a lot of potential in the program. I see a lot of great things happening, honestly,” Thibodeaux said. “I just want to see how it is. I want to make sure it’s a place that I could actually see myself at.”
Florida is one of 12 finalists for Thibodeaux, who hopes to make a late-summer decision. The USC Trojans are considered the team to beat in his recruitment, but he claims no leader.
Thibodeaux is ranked as the top overall recruit nationally, according to the 247Sports composite. He also plans to visit Florida State this weekend.
