GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Levi Jones has a new program atop his leaderboard.
The 4-star linebacker from Austin, Texas, named Florida State his favorite school in late December.
But with his official visit to Florida this weekend, the Gators have surpassed the Seminoles in his recruitment.
“I’d say UF, for sure,” Jones told SEC Country when asked for his leader. “It was all up in the air, but just going there and seeing Florida really pushed them out front for me.”
This was Jones’ first time visiting UF and it appears the Gators blew him away during his trip to Gainesville.
“I had a great time,” Jones said. “I got to see a lot and learn about the team. The players spoke highly of all the coaches and they just have love for the Gators.
“The atmosphere and the vibe there is special. I was just open to learn about the university and football program, and I was impressed with what I learned.”
Now, Florida has to hang on to its lead. Jones plans to officially visit FSU, Texas A&M, USC and UCLA over the next two weeks before making his decision.
But the Gators seemingly set the bar high this weekend.
“There’s nothing left that they have to do,” Jones said. “It was my first official, so there’s plenty more to come. I just have to let it all come to me, weigh out the pros and cons and everything will come together.”
