Although his coaching days are behind him, Steve Spurrier is never too far away from a microphone.
That will be the case even more so in 2017 as, according to Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch, Spurrier is joining SiriusXM Radio as a college football analyst.
Spurrier will be on the air three times per weeks, appearing from 11 a.m. to noon ET on Tuesday, from 5-6 p.m. ET on Wednesday and from 8-9 a.m. ET on Thursday. The Head Ball Coach will be on channel 84 on satellite radios, but can also be heard on the SiriusXM App.
Spurrier has nearly 30 years of head coaching experience at the college level at Duke, Florida and South Carolina. He also won the 1966 Heisman Trophy as the Gators’ starting quarterback.
Spurrier joined SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi and Jeff Cardozo on the Chomp Chat podcast on Sunday. Spurrier weighed in on the Gators’ current QB competition and recalled some of his best moments from his time in Gainesville.
Per Deitsch, Spurrier’s new gig will start on Aug. 15.
