In case you didn’t know, Florida’s football field is changing names this season.
It was announced in June that the official name of the field will be “Steve Spurrier – Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium” in honor of the Gators’ Heisman trophy-winning quarterback and national championship-winning coach Steve Spurrier.
On Monday, the school’s athletics Twitter account shared a couple of photos indicating that the lettering on the stadium was being removed to make way for the new name.

Given that Spurrier made the decision to leave South Carolina and return to Florida as a consultant and ambassador for Gators athletics in July, this renaming should carry more meaning for Gators fans this season.
The Gators are already promoted the Sept. 3 opener against UMass as an opportunity to celebrate The Head Ball Coach being back “home” at The Swamp:
Join us Sept. 3 as we kick off the season and welcome back a #Gators legend.
