Most days, it’s not too difficult being Florida Gator and Dallas Cowboy legend Emmitt Smith. Sunday was a rare exception, however.
The 47-year-old Smith, inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010, was, like many golf fans around the world, tuning into the final round of the Masters on Sunday afternoon. The tournament was ultimately decided by a playoff between Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose, with Garcia ultimately winning his long-awaited first major.
When Smith took to Twitter to congratulate Garcia, however, things went sideways:
Never say never!!! Way to persevere through a varsity.

Oops. While Smith surely meant to end his tweet with “through adversity” the internet did what the internet does and had a field day with the NFL’s all-time leading rusher’s tweet.
An innocent mistake, to be sure, but one that’s not likely to be forgotten anytime soon.
