Regardless of whether you loved or hated Tim Tebow the player, you have to respect some of the work he does off the field. At the top of that list includes his foundation’s annual Night to Shine event.
On Friday night, Night to Shine was held across the world providing a prom-like experience for teens with special needs 14 and older. As it is every year, Night to Shine 2018 featured some familiar faces from across the college football world, including Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts, several current Florida football players, and new Florida head coach Dan Mullen, in addition to Tebow himself:
On the bus ride over to #NightToShine my date said Julio Jones was his favorite player. Seconds later, Jalen Hurts lined the red carpet and cheered for him by name. My date turned to me and said “I got a new favorite player!” 😂 pic.twitter.com/Aeq8EuPLlt

The Tim Tebow Foundation describes Night to Shine as follows:
Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older. On one night, February 9, 2018, more than 540 churches from around the world will come together to host Night to Shine for approximately 90,000 honored guests through the support of 175,000 volunteers!
Of course, with so many individual events occurring throughout the world, several great local stories emerged. In Knoxville, Night to Shine was described as ‘a prom event with every detail of [the attendees’] lives in mind,’ according to a report by ABC affiliate WATE.
Individual events outside of SEC country were no less remarkable, with people in Los Angeles, Baltimore, and Indiana — among many others — all getting involved. Additional events were held as far away as Hamilton, New Zealand and Nairobi, Kenya.
2018 was the fourth edition of what has now become an annual event every February. Tebow has continually stated that it is one of the things he looks forward to most each year. This year, Tebow attended multiple international Night to Shine events, stopping in both Guatemala and Peru.
In a promotional video for the event Tebow said, ‘It’s my favorite night of the year, and we get to change so many lives.’
