While Jim McElwain is cooking up a way for Florida to earn a victory vs. Tennessee, fans at The Swamp will be able to savor the coach’s newly released barbecue sauce on their favorite foods.
For Jim and Karen McElwain, their dream has turned into a reality as their Mombo3 sauce will make its debut on Saturday at The Swamp as Florida battles with its SEC rival.
According to Gainesville Sun reporter Pat Dooley, the sauce can be found at select concession stands at The Swamp and will eventually make its way into local grocery stores with the goal of becoming a regional and national brand.
Cooking has been a big-time passion for the McElwain’s since the onset on their marriage in 1988. That’s when Jim McElwain began to dabble in creating some lip-smacking barbecue sauce from scratch.
McElwain is ecstatic that Gators nation will get a glimpse into his home and heart via the sauce.
The name Mombo3 pays homage to Jim McElwain’s mother and the amount of children the McElwain’s have.
“When I think of the sauce I think of friends and family and being in a good place,” the Florida head coach said. “There’s a lot of love in that sauce.”
The McElwains are donating 10 percent of all proceeds from the barbecue sauce towards charities.
