GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida has landed a quarterback for the 2018 class, and it’s an elite one.
Matt Corral, a 5-star passer from Long Beach, Calif., committed to the Gators on Saturday after a three-day visit to UF. The Elite 11 finalist chose Florida over Alabama, Georgia and Southern Cal.
Rivals.com ranks Corral as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback and No. 7 overall prospect in the country. If Corral remains in the top-10 nationally, he will be the highest-ranked QB signee in UF history.
Corral lost his fifth star this week in the 247Sports composite, but his position ranking (No. 2) and overall ranking (No. 23) didn’t change. In addition to Rivals, Scout also gives Corral a 5-star rating.
He’s the sixth commitment for the Gators this week and becomes the 12th member of their 2018 class.
