Florida is looking to lock up 4-star quarterback commit Matt Corral this week.
Gators coach Dan Mullen will conduct an in-home visit Monday with Corral, the nation’s No. 3 pro-style QB per the 247Sports composite. He has been committed to Florida since late July.
Corral is scheduled to take an official visit to Florida next weekend, which will be the final days of the contact period. That gives the Gators the last crack at Corral before he signs early on Dec. 20.
Corral took an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend and also has Alabama and LSU in play. Mullen has been contact with Corral and his father, Peter.
“Coach Mullen told him everything starts over and that he was going to get to know Matt,” said Corral’s father, who also received a call from Mullen. “He was just telling us that Matt is his guy and that he can’t wait to meet us.”
The Monday in-home visit will be an important meeting for Corral and Mullen, who needs to sign a quality quarterback for mid-year enrollment and have him competing for the starting job this spring. At this time, Mullen has few options outside of the Elite 11 finalist.
JUCO QB Terry Wilson — who received an offer from Florida last week — committed to Kentucky on Sunday after visiting Lexington. It appears Mullen would like to sign a second quarterback if possible, but Corral is now an even bigger priority with Wilson off the board.
