GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Redshirt junior linebacker Matt Rolin has left the Florida Gators football team, SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi has learned.
Rolin, from Ashburn, Va., started two games late last season against Florida Atlantic and in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan. He made a career-high eight total tackles in the SEC championship game against Alabama.
He came to the Gators as a 4-star recruit, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, but injuries have undermined his collegiate career.
Rolin tore the ACL in his left knee as a true freshman in August 2013, his second such injury to that knee, and would miss the entire 2013 and 2014 seasons. He opened the 2015 season sidelined by a herniated disk.
