Michigan is slightly favored over Florida in Citrus Bowl
Florida will play Michigan in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day. You could make a case these two programs have made the biggest turnarounds from where they were last year.
According to VegasInsider.com, Michigan is a 3 1/2-point favorite over Florida. The line opened with the Wolverines as 4-point favorites over the Gators.
Both teams are led by first-year coaches with their respective programs, Jim McElwain with the Gators and Jim Harbaugh with the Wolverines.
This will be the first matchup between the programs since the 2008 Capital One Bowl. Michigan defeated Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow, 41-35, in overtime. That game was Michigan coach Lloyd Carr’s final game.
This matchup is also interesting because Florida and Michigan will open the 2017 season at the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium in Arlington, Texas. Two more interesting storylines: Florida offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier will face the team he coached last season, and Florida and Michigan are ranked No. 8 and No. 10, respectively, in scoring defenses.
This year’s game will kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
