A minor league team in South Carolina is having fun with the news of Tim Tebow’s minor league assignment with the Columbia Fireflies.
The Greenville Drive, the Class-A affiliate for the Boston Red Sox, is already promoting a June series with the Fireflies on Twitter. Why? Because the team guarantees Tebow will win fans free Whoppers from Burger King by striking out at least three times.
That wasn’t the end either.
A fan tweeted at the Drive, saying the team was just jealous that it didn’t get to have Tebow. The Drive responded that Tebow was just a “PR stunt.”
The Twitter account had several more tweets trolling Tebow. When more people had negative responses, the Drive tweeted they were “trying to lighten the mood here.”
The team did eventually tweeted a less than heartfelt apology.

On Tuesday, they joked their account had been “hacked.” However, all of the tweets remained up as of Tuesday afternoon.
So how was everyone else's Monday? We just found out our Twitter account was hacked. But we think we found the culprit in our new office… pic.twitter.com/qS6iYKutHK

The Mets assigned Tebow to the Fireflies on Monday. He hit .235 in spring training and also went hitless in his first two outings. However, he had some bright moments as well, including a multi-hit game and some good work in the outfield last week.
